![]() ![]() A really long time ago, a prehistoric hunter had the bright idea to cover himself with vegetation so that he could improve his chances of bringing home the next big meal. Little did he know what he had just created. Ever since then, we’ve made all kinds of improvements to what became known as camouflage. More colors, improved definition and detail, prettier limbs and leaves... all in the same attempt– to help outdoor enthusiasts’ be more successful hunters. One winter day late in 2004, three guys got together – all of them with the same interest – getting closer to the game. They had all spent many years collectively working for some of the top outdoor brands in the industry and through all they had experienced, they felt like it was time for something new in camo. A departure from the norm. A bold new approach. So they formed a new company. Next Camo was born. We started off very small, designing and developing a new camo pattern that would satisfy the demands of todays hunter. We called this “first generation” camo pattern Next G-1TM. It combined many of the elements associated with modern camo such as high-definition limbs, leaves and tree elements along with the proper mix of light and shadow. The resulting pattern was far lighter in appearance than most patterns on the market at the time. An over abundence of shadow and detail tend to make a pattern “blob” when viewed from a distance, so lightening our pattern up was a good way to move toward eliminating that problem. The pattern was shown to a number of manufacturers to good response, however, there was one in particular that decided to give it a shot. PRADCO, a Birmingham, Alabama based company which owns several outdoor brands including Summit Treestands and Knight Rifles signed on and have been using Next Camo patterns on thier products ever since. The following year, Next G-1 GreenTM was introduced. The latest pattern was based on original G-1 with the addition of more green elements into the mix. Since that time, many other manufactures have come on board offering a variety of products in Next G-1 and Next G-1 Green camo. The best was surely yet to come. Cut to today... Today hunters‘ expect more out of their camo. The pattern should match the way the clothing works. Modern camo designs have not changed much in the last few years. Same resolution. Same high level of detail. But all of that can work against you in the field. That mule deer simply doesn’t care how pretty your camo pattern is. He’s just not gonna get close enough to see all of the veins on the leaves in the pattern. True that would be nice, but it’s probably not going to happen. More than likely, the truth is, at a distance of 30 yards you will look like a dark human-shaped blob. There is a way to fix that problem. Since forming Next Camo, it has been our goal to improve the way camo works. Camo is not supposed to look pretty up close and lose definition far away, the whole concept should actually work in reverse. Camouflage is designed to conceal by disrupting the outline through the effective replication of the color texture and form of natural surroundings and–at its’ best–should reach maximum effectiveness at 20 to 30 yards. What we have done, is to create a new patented process that allows that to happen. We call it FLX-Print TechnologyTM–and it’s going to change the way you look at camo forever. In 2009, we will introduce Next FLX DigitalTM, the worlds first truly digital camo pattern. Stay tuned additional updates on the rebirth of modern camo technology. The best is truly yet to come... |
